The sun’s road, the sea’s road

πὰρ δ᾽ ἴσαν Ὠκεανοῦ τε ῥοὰς καὶ Λευκάδα πέτρην
ἠδὲ παρ᾽ Ἠελίοιο πύλας καὶ δῆμον ὀνείρων
ἤϊσαν . . .

innocuous Hermes, down the paths of decay,
and they went past the streams of Ocean and the White Rock
and past the gates of Helios and the deme of dreams
